I love to read blogs of experts, thought-leaders and influencers in the digital marketing space. I love it even more when I can see these people talk, move, crack jokes and share a little of their personality and a lot of their domain expertise with the world.

Today, I feel like I got showered with marketing goodness. I saw two videos that blew my mind. Its an hour of your time – an investment that will pay off huge returns.

Seth Godin: Quieting the Lizard Brain

Seth Godin brings to this talk two balloons, one 50ml syringe, a chicken toy and his genius. Ever got cold feet or a panic attack before a product, service, site, book launch? Its your lizard brain, Seth tells us. In 18 minutes he takes you through human psychology (turns out it has more to do with physiology) and demystifies the biggest issue facing innovators, entrepreneurs, managers and business owners: the inability to ship/jump/launch. Its simple but very profound. I found this one late but it has evergreen value.

Check it out here:

Note: Thanks @paradoxed for tweeting the link. The talk was given by Seth Godin at the 99percent Conference 2008.

Matt Cutts on SEO for WordPress

My day of delightful video discoveries did not end with just that one. I saw this video where Matt Cutts shares a wealth of information about Google optimization processes and SEO best practises. Matt is the head of webspam at Google. He has an animated style of talking, he’s funny, engaging and he shares some really valuable information in this video. Reputability, relevance, originality, the Katamari philosophy, niche creation- Matt doles the goodies out one by one. This one was great help especially since my last post was about WordPress plugins.

A must-watch for all marketers and SEO enthusiasts:

This talk was originally given by Matt at WordCamp. It was sent to me by doniv – thanks ye all.

So watch on. Yes its a little over an hour. Tell me if you’re complaining at the end of it ;)

I remain..in gratitude. Have a wonderful weekend!

Nice presentation indeed.Seth has a nice way of putting ideas across.
I quite enjoyed the “trashing at the start” idea based on the “Lizard brain” idea.
However I do feel it is an over simplification and that the trashing at the start is not always pracical no matter how much we would like it to be.

The main reason i feel is that there are always going to be external(to the project, venture, etc)events which cant be predicated at the start. One needs to be able to adapt to changing circumstances and indeed use them to benefit the product to be shipped.
Change should be embraced rather than resisted is what I have learnt over the years in software development.
